COMMENTARY
The final factor needed to release this Pokémon's true power was a strong bond with a Trainer it trusts.

Hangdog seems to have a nose for snooping out buried or hidden objects. It will relentlessly pursue that which is hidden, digging for hours and hours if it needs to, unable to be dissuaded from its task until it recovers what it desires. Most of the items it finds are trash...but, hey, it seems happy about its prizes.

Hangdog finally evolved when he had to protect an injured Riz while battling the Paradox Pokemon down in the Prehistoric Cavern.

In Paldea, Riz discovered that Hangdog's Tera type is Steel

The user utilizes the energy of the terrain to attack. This move’s type and power change depending on the terrain at the time the move is used.

Cloaking itself in high energy, the user slams into the target. The memory held determines the move's type.

The user explodes to inflict damage on those around it. The user faints upon using this move.

The user bites with electrified fangs. It may also make the foe flinch or become paralyzed.
